The Three Battles of Beowulf was inspired by a translation of a book I bought recently
of Beowulf by J.R.R. Tolkien. The work describes three key scenes from the story. The
first is when Beowulf fights the monster Grendel who had been carrying off villagers
members of the local royal court. The second describes the battle between Beowulf and
Grendel’s Mother who slew many of the nobles of the courts for the death of her child
Grendel. Beowulf kills her with a blow from a giants sword in her treasure horde. The
third is the battle between Beowulf and a great dragon in which he dies at the end and
is laid to rest.
