This work is in four movements and follows the typical design of fast-slow-very fast-fast of the classical symphony. The first movement opens with an energetic motive passed around the ensemble and is replete with interesting textures as the potential for this melody is explored. The second movement begins with a saxophone quartet stating the theme which is majestic and lyrical. The third movement is triple meter and is similar to a scherzo movement. Then the fourth movement is another lively dance like movement.
