I. Shout Circle
II. Tango

American Terpsichore is a collection of uniquely ‘American’ dances, meaning from the Americas, but not necessarily the USA. The opening movement, entitled Shout Circle is a tradition of Gullah Geechee people of the Eastern United states and uses percussion instruments endemic to that region. The second movement is a tango, popularized in the culture of Argentina and the final movement is a a cake walk in the rag time style of early 20th century America.
