Symphony No. 18 was inspired by and uses techniques derived from ideas from Godel, Esher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid. I was fascinated by mathematical process, particularly fractals and how they relate to music and the composition process. This piece encapsulates those ideas primarily through fugue and canon devices.
