Jeffrey A. Young
Concerto for Piano No. 2 (2025)
I. Allegro
II. Andante
III. Allegro
A rhythmically driving work, Piano Concerto No. 2, created around the idea of the concerto as stylized dance music. Throughout the opening movement are references to the clave, the basic syncopation in Latin dance music and jazz. The third movement is a sort of spoof on a waltz, despite being multi metered and at times poly-meteric.
