Jeffrey A. Young
Symphony No. 16 (2025)
I. Andante
II. Intensely
III. Presto
IV. Allegro
This symphony’s design does not differ from the classical layout. Beginning with a pastoral introduction, and continuing with vibrant and lively contrapuntal lines, Symphony No. 16 is a rollicking example of the symphonic genre. The second movement begins with the pulse, and proceeds with a Zarathustra like melody. The third movement is a triple meter, scherzo like movement, in which the percussion feature prominently. The fourth movement has features of Italian opera, such as arioso, interjected with lines pulsing with rhythmic vibrancy.
